As I sit outside, in the temperate Chicago summer weather, I soak up the beauty of this new mixtape released by Griz. It is so outstanding and artfully mastered, that I need a few listens to appreciate all the fine details that go into this masterpiece. Soul, Funk, a dash of hip-hop and the underlying electronic elements are mystifying. It is truly amazing what he has been able to accomplish here and should inspire people. To go back to the roots is not a cop-out. This mixtape shows that it is possible to move forward by going backward. It is smooth, classy, energetic and anachronistic. Bravo. Now if you don\’t mind, I am going to go light some candles, turn up the volume, and draw myself a bath.
