Recently Skrillex and Diplo made their PBS debut with the one and only Charlie Rose. If you are not familiar with Charlie Rose, he is a very well known interviewer who has been on air since 1993. Skrillex and Diplo were lucky enough to be invited to talk about how they started, the EDM craze, and their personal lives.

The interview started off to a hot start of really well thought out questions for the dynamic duo. The first question which Diplo took upon to answer was \”Do you consider yourselves musicians?\” Defnitiely a common question asked by EDM skeptics.

\”In 2015, you have to have one foot on the creation of the music and also a have a foot in the creation of the media,\” Diplo responded. \” I\’m not a musician, per say. It\’s bigger than grabbing a guitar and putting something together, you have to create an atmosphere.\”

Then we get Skrillex\’s perspective on the situation and in his zen-like ways he responds,\”It\’s about taking things that don\’t make sense, make sense.\” Skrillex then addresses how insane and unreal the electric vibes are in the genre.

After more questions and clever answers by the duo one of the final questions arises – \”what do you have planned for the future?\”

In the words of Diplo, \”It took us five years to get people to respect what we do\” he then continues after a pause \”But now, we have a strange leverage over artists to get some of the best records they have.\”

This is a great interview as we get to see a side of these artists that we don\’t often get exposed to. Check out the full video below.
