Popular electronic producer Joel Zimmerman, better known as Deadmau5, has been the center of the attention these past few weeks, and it seems he\’s about to get even more recognition for what he does best. Deadmau5 has been officially nominated for \”2015 Artist of the Year\” by the Juno Awards, which is a Canadian awards ceremony highlighting some of the best native artists. What\’s really major about this nomination, is that all Juno nominees are selected by either the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences or by a panel of experts which are brought in. It\’s unfathomable that electronic music is even a consideration by an academy, however, it seems the electronic dance music scene is beginning to receive even more of the recognition it deserves.

Alongside Deadmau5, the 2015 Artist of the Year nominees are The Weeknd, Bryan Adams, Sarah McLachlan and Leonard Cohen. Besides the Artist of the Year award, Deadmau5 is also up for an Electronic Album of the Year award alongside Ryan Hemsworth, Caribou, Lydia Ainsworth and Plastikman. We\’re interested in seeing the results, and you can see what they\’ll be on March 15th.
