Earlier last week, music-recognition app Shazam unveiled its own Hall of Fame, honoring over 80 artists that have racked up millions of searches. They\’ve broken up the scale into 3 categories: Silver (5+ million searches), Gold (10+ million), and Platinum (15+ million).

Innately, this app is a direct line to the worldwide music trends as it is able to identify what\’s popular before it even happens. Shazam is clearly one of the most accurate portrayals of the hottest artists on the scene, and with their new Hall of Fame we\’re able to see the results.

Within the top 25 Shazam-ed artists of all time, EDM is proudly represented. Avicii takes the number 1 spot with over 19 million searches for his hit song \”Wake Me up\”. Daft Punk\’s \”Get Lucky\” sits at number 8 with 12 million. Robin Schulz\’ remix of \”Prayer in C\” comes in at the 12th spot, with Martin Garrix\’s \”Animals\” only a couple hundred thousand searches fewer. Also included in the list are Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Ellie Goulding, Disclosure, Calvin Harris, Armin van Buuren, Zedd, Major Lazer, and DJ Snake (among others).

With electronic artists like these making up such a large percentage of the world\’s searches, the future of the \”genre\’s\” popularity and overall awareness looks bright. With Shazam, there is no clearer, faster, and more direct source of statistics on the latest music trends. If the results from their Hall of Fame hold steady, EDM will be well on its way to the top of the charts.
