SpectraSoul return with their second studio album, ‘The Mistress’. Building on the foundations laid by their critically acclaimed debut ‘Delay No More’, the follow up sees Jack Stevens and Dave Kennett return with an album that takes their songwriting skills to new heights, exploring more deep and diverse electronic territories, all the while retaining their unmistakable drum and bass brand. Alongside talented vocalists including Harleighblu, Joshua Idehen, Lilly McKenzie, Tamara Blessa and more, Spectrasoul have created yet another beautifully crafted long player that looks set to satisfy bass music aficionados the world over.

After \’Delay No More\’, we found a new workspace; somewhere secluded and that was solely ours – something we\’d, unbelievably, never had before. In the months that followed, we worked obsessively, and without structure or boundaries, allowing ourselves the freedom to learn and explore again. It was during the preparation for a one-off live show that we made a decision to include more of a performance aspect in our new material. So we brushed up on our playing skills, developed new outboard processing chains, and worked with spontaneity, decisiveness, and a more hands-on approach. We made a decision to limit our editing capabilities, forcing us to focus on the creative side of songwriting rather than the technical. These new changes to our approach proved significant. And, coupled with contributions from an array of talented and passionate vocalists, they enabled us to realise and ultimately satisfy \’The Mistress\’.

We were obsessed by it. We were slaves to it. We both loved it, we both hated it. All we did was think about it. We worked tirelessly to fulfil it. And we did so in relative secrecy…
