Those hoping Electric Daisy Carnival would return to the midwest may finally be able to breathe. There have been some rumors about EDC retuning to Chicago after its first and only year in 2013. Due to lack of venue, financial losses because of low attendance, and noise complaints, the three day festival- which took place in Joliet, IL- did not come back again this year. But that may change.

Though nothing has been confirmed, Electronic Midwest & Red Roll have stated that Insomniac Events, the mastermind of EDC, is currently investing in making renovations at Northerly Island in Chicago, the supposedly new location. The area, which houses a campground and the First Merit Bank Pavilion, is considerably close to Solder Field, the home of Spring Awakening Music Festival, but is currently undergoing construction.

In an AMA on Reddit, Insomniac Events CEO Pasquale Rotella said that the goal would be to relocate to a more convenient venue \”that\’s closer to the city, or further away but more affordable.\” No word from anyone at Insomniac, but the possibility of a bigger and better festival taking place next year is something to be excited about. And if EDC Chicago 2015 does occur at the rumored location, we definitely have a game changer.
